• Drawn into a strange land our heroes flee thru the thick mists into the only refuge available. They find a faint message painted in what looks like blood.
  • “Beneath this dwelling lurks a beast. Who hungers for a bloody feast.
    He sleeps until the midnight chime
    Then wakes to feed his dark design.
    If morsels seek to flee their doom,
    Then bring toward his secret room
    A gift to soothe his savage mood
    But mind the servants of his brood.”

  • Time is of the essence they have little time to escape at midnight a horror will be unleashed…time moves on.
  • A family portrait rests in the main hall.
  • Various clues give the names of the owners Gustav, and his wife Elisabeth.
  • Trapped in the house the heroes explore…
    • The First Floor:
      • It seems as if the first floor is in a fine state as if nothing is amiss.
        • A fine meal is presented and our heroes partake.
        • A den filled with wolves stuffed and preserved is the first hint that all is not right. When no one looks the move, and can’t be destroyed.
        • Toys are found belonging to Rose and Thorn.
        • Piece of needlework made by children for “Miss Klara” has the young woman’s face hacked from it.
    • The second floor:
      • This floor seems to have been affected by time, but still serviceable.
          • a harpsichord plays a haunting melody titled “Waltz for Klara“. The ghosts most noticeably. A well-dressed man, Gustav, dances with a woman in servant’s clothes, Klara. Additionally, a woman, Elisabeth, gazes at them with a ruby pendant around her neck.
          • A letter in the library from Klara asks for a temporary leave of absence. She is with child but clearly loves the family.
          • Secret room with a letter from Strahd von Zarovich clearly unimpressed with whatever is happening in the house.
          • On the balcony outside the house our heroes see walls of fleshy tendrils moving the house.
      • The third floor is devastated by time.
        • A suit of armor comes to life and attempts to stop the heroes.
        • A bed is found that clearly was used to torture someone.
        • a crib with the name “Walter” lovingly, but poorly etched into the wood. A woman’s finger gnawed by tiny teeth is found.
        • In the mirror our heroes communicate with the ghost of “Klara”. She was abused and is missing her fingers, feet, and her mouth has been sewn shut.
      • Attic.
        • Our heroes find a crude drawing of a basic floor plan that denotes Quarters, Shrine, Alter.
        • A list of names titled “recruitment”

    As the session ends our heroes enter what looks like a children’s room…its somewhere between nine and ten o’clock.
